 At BodyBurn by Ray, no second is wasted and no muscle goes unworked. Bursts of high intensity cardio paired with strength training create a steady, low-impact burn—for an optimized approach to fitness unlike any other. In place of the usual, common equipment, classes strictly utilize self-powering motorless gear, maximizing activation of the users’ arms, legs and abs to calorie-torching effects. Whether focusing on the core, upper or lower body, a sweat session consists of 12 varying sets in which each targeted motion is performed to a perfectly timed 40 seconds, followed by 20 requisite seconds of rest—culminating in a routine that hits precisely 48 minutes total. Here, every second of a workout works for you.

WHAT IS MOTORLESS CARDIO?

Here, you’ll put the pedal to a different kind of metal. Unlike your standard (and kind of boring) cardio machines, these are powered by the user rather than an electrical outlet. You set the pace and activate every muscle in your body with the wide scope of machines we use. Strap on a waist belt and hit the steps of the Jacobs Ladder Stairway (which speeds up as you do), or up the ante on the resistance of the Assault Airbike. Build your core strength on the Krank Cycle and mimic rock climbing on the Treadwall. The variety kicks your body into full gear.


WHY LOW IMPACT HIGH INTENSITY (LIHI)?

Because it’s the best combo you can give your body. High-intensity ensures your heart rate reaches those fat-burning peaks way quicker and more effectively than sweating it out on one machine for an hour. Even better, your post-class burn ranks higher than in traditional cardio sessions, meaning your 48 minutes work way beyond that. The low-impact effect keeps muscles and joints safe from injury so you can burn on a consistent basis (and come back tomorrow, and the day after without thinking twice about it.)
